tales from edmonton
November 12th, 2005
In other news, I am dealing with the nastier side of running a business – deadbeat clients. I have one client who is going to be two weeks late in paying me for the October work I did for him. Of course, it is everyone’s fault but his own – the lawyer, his partner, the bank, even me. He is a total fool. I think this month is the last month that I will do any work for him – it just isn’t worth the trouble anymore. This month I will do a tonne of work and ensure to include the 15~~ late payment charge for October’s invoice – get a nice fat payout and then tell him to find someone else to do his monkey work. That should also free up my time to work on the products I want to develop…
Speaking of which, I had a really fruitful dream last night. In the dream I was presenting my software product to a client and I highlighted a few features that I hadn’t thought of yet – features that I think I will include in it when I get around to making it. I don’t plan on doing contract work forever, I want to develop a product line and start selling *that*. I can then do contract work / consulting to support that system and develop more products.
Yeah, that fire still needs a little stoking. :s
