back home / winter sucks
November 14th, 2005
Saskatoon is now cold and slippery and I can only assume that the retarded drivers will be out in full force come tomorrow. Seriously, 90% of the drivers in Saskatchewan are total morons and not a single one of them remembers anything from the previous winter when we get our first batch of nasty weather. Worse yet, if we get one patch of bad weather and then a period of warmer weather that melts it all – these idiots forget all over again and go around driving like it is mid-summer. After a few days in Edmonton, I am seriously considering moving there – if only to be surrounded by better drivers.
Speaking of the winter weather, it is about time to winterize the old home. Most of the windows in our house are old 70s aluminum sliders that leak air like the screen door on a Ukranian submarine. I’ll have to hit Home Depot this week to grab some of that magical shrinking plastic to put over all of our windows. Luckily Dad brought us some insulation to shove in a few nooks and crannies to make the place a little warmer too. Winter sucks.
On a brighter note, Humad got approved for his TN Visa and is right now in Washington DC. Congrats buddy! More good news for Linds and I – Humad’s friend Aqeel is going to be taking over the lease on my car and the bank has given us the go-ahead to buy Humad’s sweet-assed VW Passat! Every feature known to man and a remote starter!! We have our fingers crossed that it will all come off without a hitch.
Edmonton was a total blast and our mission of getting the majority of our Christmas shopping done was accomplished. Saturday night we went to dinner with Lindsay’s stepdad’s sister and her husband (and Lindsay’s mom and stepdad, of course). The husband in question is a bigwig with MoneyMart and they took us to their "club". It was an awesome evening! The next night we went to the Olive Garden for supper – my mom’s treat – thanks mom!! – and had another amazing meal! All told, it was a great little getaway!
Have to be up early tomorrow to account for the idiot drivers. Ugg. I allowed the moron client an extension until today on his bill but, surprise, surprise, the money is not ready yet. Friggin’ deadbeat. I cannot wait to slap him with a late payment fee and then tell him to go find another programmer who knows that site. I’d almost pay money to see his face when he finds out that I made a brand new site all by myself that is way better than his and have stolen all of his business. Jackass.
