Worst telemarketers EVER

Okay, I’ll be the first to admit it: I worked for nearly two years as a telemarketer. My wife currently does ( business-to-business only though, so she’s not interrupting your dinner… ). I happen to think that it is a perfectly fine way to make a living – if you have the stomach for it. I also believe that those who are placing such calls should show the utmost professionalism because, *surprise, surprise*, you are interrupting people’s evenings!

Bare minutes ago I received what was the worst telemarketing call I have ever encountered. The phone rang and did the funny little ring that means it is a long distance call. Call display said "Unknown" so my wife handed the phone to me as I am the designated "no thanks" person.

I answer the phone and what do I hear? Music. On-hold music. Can you believe the gall of this? To call me in my home and interrupt my evening and then have the nerve to make me wait for you to come on the line! Absolutely inexcusible! After several unanswered "hello?"s someone finally answered me and I went off!

"You call me up and then greet me with on-hold music?", I said not masking my irritation at all.

"I’m very sorry sir…", the asian-flavoured male voice on the other end of the phone began.

"I don’t care who you are, or what you want. Take my name and number off of your list and don’t call back. Okay?", I interrupt.

"Okay…", he murmurs meekly.

"Thank you very much, have a nice evening." *click*

My wife thinks I was rude. I think I was very irritated but still a whole helluva lot more polite than calling someone up at their home, in the evening and placing them directly on hold.
