It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

OR Saskatoon Is Full Of Assholes and Idiots
So yeah, winter has fully arrived in Saskatoon. Again. Unfortunately, this city is populated by assholes and idiots. We had a week of very nice weather: clear streets, warm days, no frost in the mornings. In this week, however, all of the idiots in this damn city forgot how to drive when there is snow and ice on the road. I think it is idiotic that these people forget from one winter to another but I am willing to give a little understanding there, it has been three seasons since you had to deal with it. Now, however, they have forgotten after a single week! This is the reason why the rest of the country thinks that people in Saskatchewan are moronic hicks.
Another thing that drives me insane is when these same idiots seem to think that as soon as you cannot see the lines on the road anymore, the lanes move. Seriously, I was cut off this morning by someone who seems to think that which lane goes where magically changed with the falling of the snow. I have driven in the winter in a lot of places, including large, nasty American cities like Chicago and Detroit but I have never seen drivers as bad as the ones we have here at home.
Now, on to the assholes. Anyone who has to drive in Saskatoon in the winter knows two things 1) there is already too much snow on the streets and 2) our snow-removal facilities are significantly lacking. Nevertheless, our home-grown assholes feel the inexorable need to shovel the snow out of their driveway/walkway and dump it into the street. Worse still are the asshole business owners downtown who clear the sidewalk into the street. The streets downtown get cleared much less than residential streets and they get nasty much faster. All of these assholes deserve a good smack in the face with the broadside of a shovel.
On another topic…
This might be the only time I have ever or, I suspect, will ever say something positive about Paul Martin but here goes. I am quite impressed with him standing up to the Bush Administration. In case you haven’t heard, the US ambassador released some statement about Martin risking Canada’s good relationship with the US by being critical of their administration during election campaigning. WTF? A regime whose policies are that damaged by criticism that they resort to threatening other governments who dare to criticize them…sounds somewhat fascist if you ask me. So, reluctant kudos to Paul Martin for saying he would not "be dictated to as to the subjects that I should raise." It is likely election-time bravado, but it is still nice to see a Canadian politician standing up to the US.
"Let me simply say to anyone who wants to question what I have been saying, beginning with Stephen Harper, that I am the prime minister of this country, that our position on climate change will be determined by the government of Canada, that the fact is that we do expect our partners to honour their agreements — and I will defend Canada. Period." – Paul Martin
