Dear Joss,

You suck. You suck because of Firefly. As many Sci-Fi fans will eagerly attest, there have been precious few original and truly awe-inspiring universes created in Science Fiction. Some notable examples include the original Star Wars ( even though it was quite obviously inspired by early works such as Flash Gordon ), Star Trek and Dune. More recently, your Firefly series is arguably the greatest television show ever created – at least from the point of view of sci-fans. Further to that, there was a movie called Serenity which just might be the best goram movie ever made. Even my dear wife Lindsay, who is far from a sci-fi fan and even further from a geek, agrees it was amazing. Never before had she been at a movie where every single person in the theatre clapped at the end.

Joss, oh Joss. Last I heard, Serenity had grossed one million dollars less than it cost in box office returns. Considering the fact that the movie industry as a whole makes most of its money from DVD sales and from theatre ticket sales, how could you declare your willingness to abandon the Firefly universe before Serenity made its DVD debut? According to digg, Serenity has spent two whole weeks as the number one selling DVD on Amazon. The news of you dropping the Firefly saga came less than a week after news of a possible made-for-TV sequel to Serenity. What happened to that?

Joss, you son-of-a-bitch! What is Shepherd Book’s back story? How can a preacher get priority access to an Alliance medical facility with barely the swiping of an Id card? How has a royal prick such as Jayne survived long enough to entertain us so much? When will Mal get to tap Inara’s sweet, sweet expensive ass?

Never before has someone created such a wonderful and, dare I say it, realistic vision of the future. Me and my friends have spent more hours discussing the Firefly universe than we have spent discussing Star Wars and Star Trek combined ( taking the recentness of Firefly into account, of course ) and we are salivating for more!! We need a prequel!! We need Book’s backstory! We need more Wash!!

Joss, my wife ( BEST WIFE EVER!! ) got me Firefly on DVD for Christmas. She also got me Serenity. Serenity was Full Screen, however, so we are going to go buy the Widescreen version and give the Full Screen version to my best friend Travis. My household will purchase Serenity twice. Your many fans will purchase Serenity faithfully. Joss, dear Joss. Heed nothing if not the loud bellow of your faithful fans and their overpowering CHA-CHING of their dollars! When your big fat royalty cheque arrives in the mail, pour some gravy on that crow, choke down your original statement and revive the series!
