So, yeah. My drive and dedication to updating this blog and working on the software behind it have been sorely lacking as of late. I could claim that this is because things at my day job have been really busy lately or that I have been working on other projects of my own. Both of these are true but they are not at the heart of the problem. I have been lazy. I have had a wee bit of an awakening regarding this and I plan to get off of my ass starting this coming Monday and redouble my efforts on all fronts. I still have goals that need attending to this year: become self-sufficient and my own boss, help steal customers from and ultimately bankrupt a certain purveyor of search technology, etc. etc.
Moving on… I have recently become aware of a most amazing site: RocketBoom. This is a video blog site. It is awesome. Basically the kind of geeky news one might find on a site such as Digg but presented with video clips by a very entertaining and attractive blonde woman from New York. Most excellently, new entries are posted daily, Monday through Friday. Check it out! I got a digital camcorder for my birthday, maybe I’ll do a video blog someday…if I ever develop that much motivation.
In other news, I am completely cock-foddled by the insanity surrounding those Mohammed cartoons. Considering the fact that Islam is supposed to be a religion of peace, I am always surprised by how quickly and easily its followers are driven to violence. Yes, you are offended, we get it. No need to break things and make a big mess. More perplexing is Iran’s insistance on blaming the Dutch government for the actions of a newspaper. This merely shows the world that not only do the Iranians not like a free and democratic society with a free press, they also seem unable of understanding the concept of a free press. Personally, I do not live in a restricted and oppressive dictatorship but at least I understand how retarded it is.
Going to Regina this weekend on a little get-away with the wife. Should be nice to get out of the city for a change of scenery. Finally transferred my Volkswagen into my name this week, maybe I’ll post some pictures of it when it is clean and I flesh out this blog program a little more. Probably going to see Final Destination 3 this weekend. I have absolutely loved the first two and I have high hopes for the third. I’ll probably have something to say about it here next week. Or sooner, I am taking my lappy with me and the hotel has high speed access. Is it bad that I suffer withdrawal without an active broadband connection? I didn’t think so!
