The new and improved iJeff

Well, I’ve done it. I got an iPod. I have wanted an mp3 player for some time now but haven’t been able to justify the expense – especially for a real iPod. Why pay so much money just to be trendy? Anyway, my wife gets these points at work and we were able to redeem some of them – an iPod each, a new Weber Grill (SWEET!) and a $100 Amex card. Pretty good haul. So, now I have an iPod.
I have to confess that when I first heard about iPods being able to play video I was very skeptical. Who in the hell would want to watch TV shows or, god forbid, movies on such a small screen. Now that I actually have one, I have to say that the performance is actually very good. For such a tiny screen, the resolution is very good. I watched a few episodes of Penn and Teller’s Bullshit and then the pilot of Blade: The Series. The resolution was so good I could tell what a bad casting choice they made for Blade. The guy looks like Dave Chapelle with muscles and he sounds like Bea Arthur with a hangover. Wesley Snipes was an amazing choice for Blade in the movies but this guy just sucks. Yes, he is black. In that they cast him spot on! But Snipes’ terse dialog and gravelly voice have been rendered as a lame caricature of the original.
Anyway, to sum up. iPod, good. Blade: The Series, bad. Weber Grill: sweetness. Gonna try an make entries here on a more frequent basis. Until then…
